[type-2 B-effector cells; B-effector-2 cells] These cells constitute a polarized subpopulation of B-cells. This subpopulation of B-cells is characterized by the production of a distinct pattern of cytokines (for a related subpopulation see also: Be1 cells).
The development of Be2 cells depends on the cytokine environment in which the cells are stimulated during their primary encounter with antigen and T-cells. Be2 cells produce IL4 and regulate the differentiation of naïve CD4(+) T-cells to Th2 cells (See: T-helper cells
