[bursal septpeptide 1] BSP-I (EPASGMM) is a septapeptide isolated from the bursa of Fabricius, the central humoral immune organ unique to birds (Feng et al, 2011). BSP-I, which is one of several other bursal peptides, acts as a regulatory peptide factor and has been shown to reduce MCF and Hela tumor cells proliferation, and to enhance p53 expression. BSP-I significantly induces antigen-specific immune responses in BALB/c mice intraperitoneally immunized with inactivated avian influenza virus, enhancing antibody production, stimulating IL4 and IFN-gamma, and inducing T-cell and lymphocyte proliferation.
