[bone morphogenetic protein receptor 2; bone morphogenetic protein receptor type 2; BMP receptor 2] The human gene encoding BMPR2 has been identified by Rosenzweig et al (1995) who also showed that the receptor binds BMP7 and less efficiently BMP4. Vitt et al (2002) have reported that BMPR2 binds GDF9 [growth/differentiation factor-9]. Inhibition of BMPR2 biosynthesis completely prevents the GDF9 induction of granulosa cell thymidine incorporation.
