[brain-specific angiogenesis inhibitor-3] The approved gene symbol is ADGRB3 [Adhesion G protein-coupled receptor B3].
The cDNA encoding BAI-3 has been identified independently as KIAA0550. This human gene has been identified by homology to the angiogenesis inhibitor BAI-1 [brain-specific angiogenesis inhibitor-1]. The gene maps to human chromosome 6q12 and the protein has been reported to be expressed in brain. Absence or reduced expression of BAI-3 has been observed in some glioblastomas and derived cell lines (Shiratsuchi et al, 1997). Kee et al (2004) have cloned the gene and reported expression of BAI-3 in most neurons
