[B7 homolog-3] This protein is a member of a larger protein family (B7), which play important roles in cell-mediated immune responses by providing co-stimulatory signals to T-cells. The protein is being referred to also as B7RP-2 [B7-related protein 2]. In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD276.
Sun et al (2002) have reported a splice isoform, termed B7-H3b, with four instead of two Ig-like domains that results from gene duplication and differential splicing. The form with two Ig-like domains has been referred to as 2IgB7-H3.
