abbr. B-BCDF. This biochemically uncharacterized factor is produced by some B-cell lines and normal activated B-cells. B-cell lines, immortalized by Epstein-Barr virus, constitutively secrete a 10-fold higher level of B-BCGF compared with normal activated B-cells into the conditioned medium (Muraguchi et al, 1986).
B-BCGF appears to be distinct from IL1, IL2, IL4 (see: BSF-1; B-cell stimulating factor-1); IL5 (see: BCGF-2), IFN-gamma, or TGF.
B-BCGF acts on activated B-cells, but not on resting
