Avian reovirus p10 protein

This non-structural protein is encoded in the genome of avian reovirus. It is thought that the protein is involved in syncytium formation, which is one of the consequences of reovirus infection (Bodelón et al, 2001). The expression of p10 enhances membrane permeability following transient expression in BSC-40 monkey cells. The protein shares several structural and physical characteristics with other membrane-active viral proteins and appears to function as a reovirus viroporin (Bodelón et al, 2010).
