[Antigen-capturing cell]
A term pertaining to a small number of cells that can bind antigen with comparable efficacy as B-cells and are found in the peripheral blood, spleen, and bone marrow of mice. These cells are not B-cells. Mack et al (2005) have shown that these cells are basophilic granulocytes. The ability of these cells to capture antigens depends on surface IgE receptors and on antigen-specific plasma IgE molecules appearing after immunization. The cells express surface-bound IgE, IL3 receptors, CD45, CD16, CD32, and the chemokine receptor CCR2
