abbr. AmotL-2. This protein is related to Angiomotin (Bratt et al, 2002) and has been described as MASCOT by Sugihara-Mizuno et al (2007). A databank synonym is LCCP [Leman coiled-coil protein]. The cDNA has been identified independently as KIAA0989.
The protein is expressed by endothelial cells. Huang et al (2007) have reported that the protein is essential for correct cell movements in vertebrate embryos. Ernkvist et al (2009) have shown that Angiomotin-like-2 binds to the RhoA GTPase exchange factor (RhoGEF) protein Syx [synectin-binding guanine exchange factor], which is important for the directional migration of capillaries in the embryo.
