Angiogenin-2

abbr. Ang-2. This glycosylated protein of 123 amino acids isolated from bovine serum and milk is a basic protein that binds tightly to placental ribonuclease inhibitor (Strydom et al, 1997). Other designations are Angrp [Angiogenin-related protein] (Brown et al, 1995; Nobile et al, 1996) and Rnase5b [ribonuclease A family 5b].

Angiogenin-2 is a member of the ribonuclease superfamily. It is 57 % identical with bovine angiogenin. The protein displays a low degree of ribonucleolytic activity. It is a potent angiogenic factor in the chicken chorioallantoic membrane assay, but less so than angiogenin (Strydom et al, 1997). ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
