Angio-3 peptide is a 10-residue peptide (TPHTHNRTPE; Thr-Pro-His-Thr-His-Asn-Arg-Thr-Pro-Glu) derived from plasminogen kringle 3 domain. It retains the functions of angiostatin in inhibiting both angiogenesis and vascular permeability. Angio-3 peptide inhibits angiogenesis induced by either VEGF and bFGF by inhibiting endothelial cell proliferation and migration while inducing cell death by apoptosis. Inhibition of VEGF-induced vascular permeability results from its ability to impede VEGF-induced dissociation of adherens junction and tight junction proteins as well as the formation of actin
