Agglucetin is a tetrameric C-type lectin-like venom protein from Formosan Agkistrodon acutus (A. acutus) venom (Wang and Huang, 2001). The protein is a platelet glycoprotein Ib binding protein (Wang and Huang, 2001).
Wang (2008) has shown that Agglucetin sustains human umbilical vein endothelial cell proliferation. Agglucetin acts as a survival factor, promotes endothelial adhesion, and angiogenesis by triggering signaling through integrins CD51 and CD61.
