[apolipoprotein C1(64-88)] This peptide, FSTKTRNWFSEHFKKVKEKLKDTFA, identified by Bishop et al (2015) in the plasma of the American alligator, Alligator mississippiensis, has been termed Apo5 by Barksdale et al (2016). APOC1(64-88) is an antimicrobial peptide derived from apolipoprotein C1 and shows strong in vitro activity against multi-drug resistant and clinically isolated strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii.
