[Achatina cardioexcitatory peptide-1] This neuroactive peptide (SGQSWRPQGRFamide) has been isolated from the atria of the African giant snail Achatina fulica Férussac (Fujimoto et al, 1990). The peptide is present in Achatina ganglia and effective on the Achatina giant neurons. ACEP-1 also stimulates the heart muscle and also other muscles such as the penis retractor and buccal muscles (Fujimoto et al, 1990).
