8b-13 peptide
This peptide, PNFTQHVREQSLV, has been identified by Li et al (2013). It is derived from the gN helix of the fibroblast growth factor FGF8b, a growth factor that shows upregulated expression in prostate cancer cells. The peptide disturbs the interaction between FGF8b and its receptors The peptide inhibits the proliferation of prostate cancer cell lines, including PC-3 and DU-145 cells by arresting the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase, reducing the activation of the ERK1/2, P38, and AKT1 (protein kinase B) cascades, and down-regulating the expression of G1/S-specific cyclin
