7SK RNA, encoded by the RN7SK gene, is an abundant small nuclear RNA of 331 nucleotides transcribed by RNA polymerase III and found in cells as a component of or ribonucleoprotein complex (Zieve and Penman, 1976). The human and rat sequences of 7SK RNA are 98 % similar (Wassarman and Steitz, 1991). 7SK RNA belongs to the class of regulatory non-coding RNAs (see: non-coding RNAs). 7SK RNA forms complexes with various other proteins: CDK9 [cyclin-dependent kinase 9], (HEXIM1 [hexamethylene bisacetamide inducible 1] (known also as CLP1 [cardiac lineage protein 1]), HEXIM2 [hexamethylene bisacetamide inducible 2] (Li et al, 2005), MEPCE [methylphosphate capping enzyme] (Jeronimo et al, 2007), LARP7 [La ribonucleoprotein
