A subline of the human melanoma cell line A375 (McDonald et al, 1993). These cells have been selected by a limiting dilution technique after ethyl methane sulfonate mutagenesis in the presence of Oncostatin M. The cells are completely resistant to the antiproliferative effect of oncostatin M up to a concentration of 500 ng/mL while the parent line is extremely sensitive.

The resistant cells are also nonresponsive to the growth inhibitory effects of IL6. TGF-beta, IL1, TNF-alpha and TNF-beta exhibit similar growth inhibitory effects on OM-sensitive or -resistant cells ... ... ... ...
