20-alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase inducing factor

This factor induces the synthesis of 20-alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, a specific enzyme marker of mature T-cells, in murine spleen cells (Ihle et al, 1981). Induction of this enzyme has been taken as a bioassay for this factor.

The term IL3 is now used for this factor (see also: Interleukins).
